Good afternoon Alan,
I would like to add some thoughts to David’s state of the club message.
I have been involved in many collector groups over the years, sometimes as a member and sometimes with a position within the group. In one group with a membership of about 170 myself and another person did most of the work for about a 12 year period. When we decided to have less of a role in the group no one would step up and do the work, which wasn’t that hard. I would hate to see the same thing happen to the Carder group. As David mentioned we have seen the Carder group grow each year and of this e-mail we have 192 members if everyone renews for 2012. Belonging to and being involved in an organization is a rewarding and positive experience, David mentioned what we accomplished in the last year and it’s even more amazing what has been accomplished in the 4 years I’ve been apart of this board. My term will end in Sept. of this year as will a couple of other board members terms, I would say now don’t be afraid to get involved, there is nothing hard about being on the board. In my 4 years we have had very strong leadership and we will continue to have that. This last year as part of the nominating committee we had to fill only one position, that was a directors position which was filled by Mark Chamovitz. Mark recently participated in his first board meeting and voiced his opinion about matters at hand and I’m guessing he would tell you it wasn’t that hard.
In realizing we were going to need to replace multiple board members at the 2012 symposium i spoke with several members at the last symposium about possibly serving in the future and members were very positive about the prospects of serving on the board. As David mentioned if you have an interest in getting involved do not hesitate to contact any board member. I would mention on a personal note I run a more than full time business and currently am on 2 different organization’s board’s. Several of our board members work full time plus jobs and lead busy lives and they serve very well.
Now everyone please pay your 2012 dues if you have not already done so, this is not that hard either. To pay 2012 dues you can go the club’s website and pay via Paypal or you can by check and mail to the club’s postal box at:
Carder Steuben Club
PO Box 543
Dansville NY 14437
I believe i have sent out a second notice to everyone on my list. If you did not receive a notice, and there will be a few because a few e-mails kicked back to me, and your not sure if you owe dues please do not hesitate to contact me either by e-mail@ thecoast57@gmail.com or my cell is 585-329-8259.
I would like to say dues payments have been coming in a very good rate and i thank membership for that.
Thank you and have a great new year,
