MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
Thank you to everyone who responded to our initial request for 2014 membership renewal last month. If you have not already done so, please CLICK HERE to be taken to the memebership tab and complete your renewal as if you were becoming a member for the first time. You may pay with your PayPal account or a credit card. If you would prefer to mail a check, just follow the instructions in the Membership Tab. Note that the Club has a new mailing address. It is Carder Steuben Club, 85 Denison Parkway East, PMB #204, Corning, New York 14830. If you have not already joined the Club, please consider doing so this month.
In the initial request for membership renewals I promised a series of reasons to join – the Gazette itself is today’s reason. Without membership fee income, we can’t pay the costs associated with publishing the Gazette. Initially, the Gazette was published by the editor using a personal computer. However, many email systems like AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, MSN, Hotmail, and many others, treat email from unrecognized sources as spam and either send it to your Spam folder or don’t deliver it at all. Apparently someone using a personal computer sending out just under 400 emails (the approximate readership of the Gazette) on a daily basis is suspicious behavior to many email systems. To correct this problem, the Club has engaged Constant Contact to act as a “trusted source” for other email systems. The Gazette is sent through Constant Contact each day and is viewed as an acceptable source by virtually every email system. The spam problem we once experienced has essentially disappeared. In addition, Constant Contact provides data storage, technical assistance and a personal representative to assist with issues related to the Gazette. All of this costs money, so please renew your membership today to help us keep the Gazette going.
