David Goldstein of Naples, Florida has a question, and hopes someone can help out with an answer.
I recently acquired some Steuben Shape 7478 flatware with Crystal handles. The metal is marked with the letter “H”.
I am trying to determine who made the metal. Dorothy Rainwater’s book, ” Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers”, the Gardener of silverware companies, shows that M. Fred Hirsch, Inc. of Jersey City, New Jersey used a similar “H” mark. Hirsch is listed as a maker of Sterling and I don’t think that the metal is Sterling.
Does anyone have any better information regarding who made the metal?
