It’s A Start

Alan,

In the past, I have mentioned that my wife doesn’t necessarily care for my Steuben collection. I came home from work today and found that she had found a purpose for my vase! She used it to anchor the rug, so it would dry, coming out of the washer. It’s a start. Scott Coots

Shrimp Boat Answers

Jan Baer says, the shrimp cocktails that I’d seen have an oversized glass, similar to a grapefruit goblet. Crushed ice is put into it. They have a separate liner that cocktail sauce is put into the bottom of, while shrimp are hung onto the side. I didn’t know that they were made as a single piece as well.

Harry Morgan responds, Yes, this is a shrimp cocktail dish. To the best of my memory the ice goes in the outside, and the shrimp are arranged around the rim of the inner portion. This could possibly be Stevens & Williams.

Hi Alan,

In response to Fran’s question about Shrimp set. The answer is yes, we have a few sets here in Rosalene & Alabaster Jade. Different shape from Fran Gabel’s. They show a line drawing in Gardner’s book, page 210, that is similar to Fran’s but the stem is different. I have attached photos of ours.
