MARSHALL KETCHUM CARDER STEUBEN MEMORIAL FUND – UPDATE

As of this past Monday, $8,875 has been contributed to Marshall’s Memorial Fund. This is a wonderful result and a fitting tribute to Marshall. Contributions can still be made to the fund. The original announcement of the fund and the directions for making a donation are described below.

MARSHALL KETCHUM CARDER STEUBEN MEMORIAL FUND

The Marshall Ketchum Carder Steuben Memorial Fund has been created at the Rakow Research Library of the Corning Museum of Glass. The fund is being established as a memorial to Marshall to recognize his contributions to the field of Carder Steuben and to preserve and enhance the Library’s holdings of material related to Carder Steuben. It was these materials that Marshall loved so much and to which he devoted so much time in his research efforts. The fund will be used to preserve, catalog, index, document and digitize the existing holdings of Carder Steuben material at the Library and to acquire additional material related to Carder Steuben that may become available. The Library has agreed to collaborate with the Board of the Carder Steuben Club on how best to use the fund for Carder Steuben related projects. In addition, the Library has agreed to report to the Club on an annual basis the status of the fund including the projects accomplished by the fund.

Donations to the fund, which are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, should be made payable to the “Corning Museum of Glass – Marshall Ketchum Fund” and should be sent to James Galbraith, Chief Librarian, Rakow Research Library, Corning Museum of Glass, One Museum Way, Corning, New York 14830.

Downsizing Collections

Just a quick note, I am currently on staff as one of the many specialists for art glass, at the James Julia auction house. They are a fine company. My specialty is paperweights, but I am able to connect collectors with the auction house in all categories of art glass. Another way is to downsize your collection by having the auction sale benefit a specific institution.

Best,
