Gold Aurene on Tyrian

Comment was made yesterday about the gold overlay on the Tyrian piece that was appraised on the Antique Road Show. David Winfield of St. Louis and Scott Hansen point out that while the Tyrian has Gold Aurene decoration that the particular piece shown on the Road Show may also have been placed in a gold metal holder. An example of such a holder is shown in this photograph.

Raw Umber

Yesterday we pictured a lamp of David Chadwick-Brown with clears handles covered with raw umber.

The raw umber is painted on the handles which are colorless glass.
