Issue 263
The 2007 Symposium co-chair, Jim Barlow, thought of the idea of showing joint
collaborations of Carder Steuben glass and metal from different perspectives.
Jim believes this may be the first time something like this has been done at a
seminar. From this thought of Jim’s we’ve developed our Symposium for this
September 13-15 at CMoG in Corning.
While most Steuben collectors are familiar with the marriage of metal and glass
in lamps and Devilbiss bottles, little is known beyond that. I believe that there
will be many surprised collectors; surprised by the breadth and scope of such
collaborations. I was struck with that thought this morning when I received two
pictures of Carder glass in metal holders from Myrna Wilson. It will be fun to
see what collectors share with us at the Symposium. I’ve set up a Symposium
picture set on our Gazette web-site.

You’ll find, first of all, an article on the Symposium appearing in the new
Perfume Bottle Quarterly for Spring of this year. Next, is the brochure for the
Symposium in process of mailing right now. The next two pictures are Myrna’s
contribution. Then, the following pictures are some other pieces of interest. As
any of you will supply .jpg’s of pieces we’ll post them on the site. Please do so.
Finally, for those who haven’t yet joined or updated membership, attached is a
form to do so. Your membership and support will be appreciated.
