Dean Six, the Curator of the West Virginia Museum of Glass writes that he is trying to outline a book on cut back/cameo glass. He is surveying images of Steuben acbs as well as Tiffany and Gillander. Dean would welcome images of acb/cameo pieces with 300dpi or higher resolution. These can be e-mailed to him at dean.six@replacements.com or to make arrangements. In transmitting pictures he asks that you provide a description and height of the piece.
Plans are now under way for this year’s Symposium to be held September 14 and 15 at CMoG in
Corning. The theme for much of the Symposium is Shared Desires: A Unity of Glass & Metal.
Jim Barlow is providing one day of what should be a most interesting program. This will highlight the collaboration of Mr. Carder’s works with the likes of metal works like Oscar Bach, Frank Art and DeVilbiss. A lot is unknown about these marriages and this promises to be a fascinating program. While several speakers have been lined up, we could use a speaker on DeVilbiss or other metal works and another collector to share their collection of glass & metal. So, if you either know of someone or are that someone, please let us have your feedback.
