Now this is a great attitude as deVilbiss expert Marsha Crafts of Port St. Lucie, Florida becomes the 198th member of the Carder Steuben Club

Hi Alan As one of the many people that enjoy getting the Gazette emails without being a member, I have finally ‘paid my dues’ and urge all others to do the same. What a great informative resource. Marsha Crafts

Charlie Giard of Monson, Massachusetts must be marketer when he says:

I think you should give a free one year “single” membership to the 200th member..maybe draw more interest?

Then Club Treasurer, Lon Knickerbocker revels in the success of his one man effort to increase Club membership.

Hi Alan

As you know we added another member today, Marsha Crafts became our 198th member.

For all those that read the newsletter authored by our own Alan Shovers, you may have read the post by John Styler “congratulating me” on our membership efforts. I would also thank those who have sent positive thoughts and thank yous for what I do. I want to make it clear this is a club effort, you the membership paid for the wonderful website, Marshall Ketchum has lead a team to make the website what it is and Alan provides our newsletter day after day, in other words it takes a cast of thousands or in our case, 200. I simply take the money and write the checks

Have a ball and as always “collect something”, life is more fun that way!

Lon

PS Guess what’s coming?

Then Dr. Isadore Cohn of Metarie, Louisiana asks questions about modern Steuben promotion.

Just a moment for a comment on post-Carder Steuben

Over the last few weeks I have had three separate notices by US Mail about the”Final Sale” of Steuben with the Madison Avenue address. The last one was a card in color announcing Final Christmas Sale Ever for Steuben

Now comes an email with the Steuben address in Corning announcing price cuts of at least 40% and showing a number of the older and what I would assume are authentic Steuben-Corning works.

Whose sale is this? – Corning, or the firm that bought Steuben and I thought had no Corning connection?

As an extra aside – there must be other collectors such as I who focus on Steuben post Carder, but do have some Carder, and now would be interested in sending dues to be in on the activities. No, I do not have any such list, so cannot supply names.

Interested in any comments
