News From The Club President

Issue 3622

Hello Everyone,

It’s December 31st and I wanted to give you a review of this year and what’s in store for the new year. This was a year of change for us as an organization as well as many of us personally. The Coronavirus continued to upset our routine and remains with us today. We were not able to hold an in-person Symposium for a second time due to COVID. I know many of us missed our gathering BUT we did have an online Symposium with great presentations. All the attendees appeared to enjoy themselves, including the little virtual happy hour and toast we had at the end. I think future Symposiums should include this virtual component so those who cannot travel can still attend. Hopefully we can get back to Corning in 2022! We also saw two incredible collections, from Alan & Susan Shovers and David & Deborah Schultz, go to auction. I am sure many of you were able to add a beautiful piece to your collections. It’s been a busy year.

We have been working on an updated website which we announced at Symposium in September. It will be coming in the new year. Look for an announcement in the near future. As part of the website update, we will be changing the format of the Gazelle Gazette newsletter. This will also be occurring in the near future. With the change of Gazette format, we will introduce a replacement for editor of the Gazette. Alan Shovers, after approximately 3,700 Gazettes, is retiring from that post. He’ll be missed, but he’s done yeoman’s service to the club.

And finally, we plan to hold 2-3 ZOOM meetings for the membership starting with one on January 29th — save the date! More information will be forthcoming. I hope many of you will attend.

I wish all of you a Happy New Year. Please be safe and stay well.

Sincerely,

Karen Beeman

PS. A few of my favorite things!
