Issue 3578
The Board of the Carder Steuben Club, Inc. (CSC) will be suggesting to the membership an amendment to the Articles of Incorporation and the By-Laws to change the name of the CSC.
In order to raise awareness and visibility of the CSC, gain new and younger members, and to help increase the stature and reputation of the CSC among similar collecting organizations, the Board recommends that the CSC be changed to the Carder Steuben Glass Association Inc.
Currently, the term “glass” is not in the Club’s name. This puts the CSC at a disadvantage when anyone searches on the internet for “Steuben glass.” The CSC does not appear in the search engine results and we miss out on tremendous opportunity to reach potential members who are researching their glass.
Further, the term “club” is outdated and it connotes a level of informality created for social purposes. Our organization can benefit from and build upon efforts to advance the goals of the organization with this simple name change.
At the CSC’s Annual Meeting on September 10, 2021, it will be proposed that:
The Articles of Incorporation for the Carder Steuben Club, Inc. be amended to reflect a change of name to the Carder Steuben Glass Association Inc.;
and
The By-Laws also be amended as follows:
ARTICLE I – Name and Organization Section 1. Name. The name of the organization is “The Carder Steuben Club Glass Association Inc.”, referred to as the “Club CSGA”.
And that the Board will take the necessary steps to implement this action.
The cost to the CSC is nominal. It requires the filing of certificate of change forms with the New York State Department of State and a fee of $20.
The Board hopes that you will understand the need for this change and vote in favor of this amendment.
