Wisteria and Grotesque Continued
“Wisteria, Carder’s dichroic blue to lavender glass, which imitated the gemstone alexandrite, is usually shown with cut decoration,….Wisteria was a difficult color to make, and very little of it has survived. Since it is referred to as ‘new’ in a 1931 memo, it was probably in production for only a short time.” p. 161 of Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass by Thomas P. Dimitroff. In Fig. 5.32, p.125 the footnote states that “dichroic” glass changes color when subjected to different wave lengths of light. “The color change is remarkable, going from an ice blue to a rich lavender.”
