Tyrian Signature Again

Jun 20, 2018
Issue 2978

Several weeks ago Sam Kissee asked whether all Tyrian pieces were signed. I responded that it was likely that a Tyrian piece would be signed but the possibility existed of unsigned pieces. Dick Weerts provided a photo of an unsigned Tyrian vase. It turns out that this same subject was addressed in a 2006 Gazette. At that time Ed Bush provided a copy of a 1956 handwritten letter by Carder stating that “Most of them were signed Tyrian but some got by without it.” A copy of the Gazette and Carder’s letter can be found here.

LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD MEMBERS

The Carder Steuben Club is in search of two members to serve on the Board of Directors beginning in October. Specifically, we are in search of a Membership Secretary and a Treasurer.

Each position is for a two year term.

The Membership Secretary is responsible for maintaining the membership database and conducts the annual membership renewal. This position is also responsible for taking minutes at each Board meeting and the Club’s Annual Meeting. Familiarity with databases and good computer skills are necessary. The database is user-friendly.

The Treasurer is responsible for keeping the financial records for the Club, pays all the bills, deposits dues and registrations, and keeps an accounting of all the Club’s money. This position is also responsible for filing the annual tax return. Proficiency in Excel and good computer skills are necessary. Former experience as a treasurer is desirable.

If you would like further information on either of these positions, you may contact our Membership Secretary, Janet Ziffer (janetandgareth@verizon.net) or our Treasurer, Steve Skalsky (steveskalsky@msn.com).

If you are interested in serving on the Board in either of these positions, please contact Scott Coots (tscoots@aol.com).
