Tiffany’s Glass Mosaics – Another Reason To Attend The Symposium

May 31, 2017
Issue 2722

An earlier Gazette focused on the Rakow Library exhibit Curious and Curiouser: Surprising Finds From The Rakow Library as a reason to attend the Symposium (September 14 – 16). There will not be presentation on the Rakow exhibit during the Symposium, but that is not the case for the Tiffany’s Glass Mosaics exhibit which will also be on display at CMoG during the Symposium.

Kelly Conway, Curator of American Glass at CMoG, will open the Symposium with an in-depth look at this exhibition and its accompanying new exhibition publication. This is the first museum exhibition to focus on this understudied aspect of Tiffany’s virtuosity in glass.

Kelly will describe the approximately 50 examples of mosaic-related objects in the exhibition. Her lecture will include a special look at the innovative materials used by Tiffany on loan from the Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass, Queens, New York, CMoG’s presenting partner for the exhibition. A more detailed description of the treasures in the Neustadt’s glass archive can be found here.

Lindsy Parrott, Director and Curator of the Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass, is the co-author with Kelly of the exhibition publication. A more detailed description of that publication, which is now on sale, can be found here.
