David Chadwick-Brown puzzlement – I believe it was ‘The King and I’ that gives me the word, and it is triggered by the random photographs that appear on the Cardersteubenclub.org website, when opened. Today, up comes (to the right) #5107, Amber, so thence to the line drawing, where I find it is described as “Gold Speckle, Flaked White Stripe.”
I have no idea what the white stripe is, but the official designation of gold speckle put me in pursuit of other gold inclusions. It is a given that mica fleck is in yellow silverina, but in what other pieces does gold fleck appear?
I can get reference to ‘mica fleck,’ as a decoration option on the cardersteubenclub.org website, but no way to search for gold fleck or speckle, as a decoration option and, frankly, I have always assumed that gold fleck was not a Steuben option.
So, open up ‘mica fleck’ as a decoration, and up comes the first page, where are to be found three different items, for comparison purposes: #2776 is a CMoG listing of Bristol Yellow, with mica fleck, then #2835 in Topaz, with gold fleck, and then #5107(shown above), in Amber, with gold fleck.
