Issue 2709
from David Chadwick-Brown
I couldn’t agree more with David Donaldson’s comments about the comparison of the two fan vases in Monday’s Gazette.
The smaller one on the left is on the website (6287), second entry from the top, and while there listed as unknown color, it was later assumed by Marshall Ketchum to be Cairn Gorm. Indeed, mine may be the one that came from his estate.
Another Cairn Gorm From CSC Web Site
The fan vase on the right was submitted for website inclusion, but never entered. However, if one goes to the bottom of the first website page of 6287 items, there is a similar color, with engraved “Castle” design.
Since the Castle fan vase is also mine, and it exactly matches the one on the right in the Gazette photo, you have a comparison of the two colors right there on the first page of the website.
When Alan Shovers visited, and photographed much of my collection, I did choose to put those two fan vases together, for purposes of color comparison, but carelessly disregarded the quality of the background, which, in part, defeated the whole purpose of the exercise!
