My favorite piece of glass, surprisingly is an Imperial Free Hand Ware vase. It has an aventurine body and is decorated with yellow lily pads. The colors of the iridescence rival anything the major Art Glass makers ever produced. Anyone who has ever seen it agrees, that it is probably the best example of Free Hand Ware ever made. I’m also attaching another example of a Free Hand Ware vase with a green Cintra body. Has anyone ever seen another example of Imperial Cintra?

f/u Open Salt Convention

John Styler’s thoughts on the open salt convention announcement:

Open Salters; They are dangerous if you have unknowing help. Our maid poured all the open salts into the sugar bowls after a dinner party we had. A week later at another dinner one of the guest said “sorry, but this is the worst coffee I have ever had” after he added what we thought was sugar. We should have known when we saw the empty salters; now how do you explain something like this tactfully to help.

I greatly appreciate Lisa Ackerman Baldwin submitting to the Gazelle Gazette the notice about and the link to the 15th National Open Salt Collectors Convention in San Diego, CA, May 4 to May 6, 2017, and emphasizing our noted speakers David Chadwick-Brown and Mike Manginella. This Convention occurs every two years, not annually.

I am Chairman of the Convention and have extended the deadline for registration until April 10, 2017, from April 1, 2017. Full meeting details and activities are available on the link you included in today’s Gazelle Gazette. Salt Convention Link I was just wondering why the heading was “Need a Toothpick?”. We collect open salts, not toothpick holders.
