Opening Act
The Carder Steuben Symposium program opens this year with a very special tour of the First Presbyterian Church in Bath, NY on Thursday afternoon, September 15.
This example of Venetian Gothic architecture houses an interior designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. A Favrile glass rose window highlights the south wall. It will be a special treat for all attendees to see and hear about the interior design of this fabulous church.
On The Ropes
David Chadwick Brown Comments on this fixture:
They say silk is strong; I hope the silk cords holding this shade will not let me – and the shade -down!
In the background are two of the very few colors used in grotesques that did not shade to clear. Wisteria, and Sea Green, shown here have not been seen in shaded. Likewise Amber, Russian Amber are unshaded. Would love to see one of these go from to clear to color; equally would I like to see one of the shaded transparents go un-shaded (though I do have a Pomona that is solid color throughout). And why no Rosa, solid or shaded…? (And I’m still longing to see that Rouge Flambe grotesque that I’ve told is ‘out there’ in a collection!
