The millefiori plate/bowl is not Steuben, alas.
The red plates are side-by-side to show the difference between these two versions of selenium. The one has opacity in the center, and some of the opacifying material actually shows through as white on the bottom, where grinding was done to level the plate. Because it is a lighter hue than the one on the right, and because that hue is closer to that of the cardinal, it was proposed as the possible ‘Cardinal Red.’ Analysis has them both as selenium variants, and we still have no consensus on Cardinal Red.
I purchased the one on the left as Rouge Flambe, but discounted the auction house asseveration, upon receipt, and still have no idea what I had just bought.
