Glass Show Reminder

The Carder Steuben Symposium kicks off this year with a Glass Show and Welcome Reception in the Carder Room at the Radisson Hotel, Thursday, September 17 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served with a cash bar.

Tables for the sale are only $25.

Anyone may participate. You don’t need to be a dealer. It’s a great opportunity for a collector to downsize or rightsize a collection. If you are interested in taking a table or two, please contact Bonnie Salzman, Symposium Chair at bsalzman@msn.com

Rabbit In The Hat

Dr. Greg Merkel pulled a rabbit out of a hat and put together another fantastic program, once again, for this year’s Carder Steuben Symposium. A spin-off from his 2009 lecture to the Club on iridescence, Greg will begin with a discussion of Islamic luster-stained glassware 1000 years ago and end in the late 19th century with iridescent luster ceramic ware of ClĂ©ment Massier, a French ceramist and Master of Iridescence, as well as Tiffany’s iridescent luster glass. He may also just mention Aurene, but who knows? Greg always keeps us on the edge of the seat.

Greg’s talk is entitled, “Iridescent Luster Glass and Ceramics – Differences and Commonalities.”

Be sure not to miss it. We’ll look for the bunnies later.

Saturday, September 19 11:15 – 12:15 a.m.
