On the Mantel
Alan,
While visiting a friend’s mother who is in her 80’s, I saw this small vase on the mantel. It has been in their family since, at least, the 1930’s. It is not tall (4 to 5″). I couldn’t find any mark on the silver i.e. Alvin. I thought that it would be of interest after the wonderful Symposium presentation on this subject. The ground pontil is about the size of a quarter. The family would like to know the shape number. I have looked at Gardner and come up with 1451 or 5030. Blue Aurene? Also, I don’t think that it was mentioned at Symposium about what can be done if some of the silver deposit is lifting. It is all there; just lifting in a spot. Many thanks.
