A THANK YOU

This past weekend the 2014 Carder Steuben Club Directory was distributed to all members electronically. Please let us know if you didn’t receive it or if there are any corrections to the information in the Directory.

I would like to thank all of the members of the Club for their continued support. It is only because of the members’ support that we are able to produce the Gazette, maintain and improve our website, hold an annual Symposium and support other efforts to promote Frederick Carder and Steuben glass. Thank you to all of you for being a part of the Club.

For those of you who currently receive the Gazette but aren’t members of the Club, please consider joining. If you join now, your membership will be valid for the rest of 2014 and all of 2015. All of the benefits of membership are described on our website and joining is a simple process described there as well.

Finally, the 2014 Symposium program and registration materials are available on the website. Our program chair, Bonnie Salzman, has put together a terrific program. Hotel information and auction information is also available on the website. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Symposium this fall.

Scott Hansen
President, Carder Steuben Club

This link is from last week’s New York Times. Perhaps it is something for the Gazette despite it’s disheartening subject matter. The last portion of the article deals with the upcoming auction of the contents of the Fenton company museum, following the closing of the Fenton manufacturing facility several years ago. I thought it a somewhat rough characterization of all the glass collectors groups devoted to “defunct glass makers.” Too bad Steuben didn’t even make the list.
