Continued Analysis on the Marketplace

As we are aware, every year there are fewer antique shows and fewer antique dealers. Each generation goes in quest of different objects.

The web offers an infinite array of buying opportunities. But artists who are not well known or whose output is perceived not to have value except as decorations/collectibles do not bring high prices because there is so much from which to choose. Even the once hot Tiffany market is reflecting the change. There is not much demand for mid-level pieces; fine and rare pieces are still sought after.

Although Carder was probably more innovative his work has not been perceived to be as rare and valuable. There are no major shows of Carder’s work; no dealers who specializein offering his finer work. How to fix this perception gap is the big question.
