Issue 1989
I was told a story a few years back and I will do the best I can at telling that story to all here. It is a story about finding a piece of Steuben for next to nothing. As the story goes Frank Blake’s wife (Amy) was at an estate or garage sale where she observed a shopper carrying a piece of what turned out to be Carder’s Mandarin Yellow. She kept the piece of glass in sight as the shopper approached the sales person to ask for a discount as they showed them the small damage. There was no discount and the shopper placed the piece back on the table where they found it. Mrs. Blake promptly picked it up and paid the full $3.50 asking price.
I believe it was a small crack. Funny thing……nobody seemed to care…..
Mandarin Yellow!!
Personally I have never found a piece of Steuben for next to nothing. Much to my dismay it has been quite the opposite. I wish I had a nickel for every time I have heard ” I don’t know who made that and I don’t know why I priced it so high but I just thought it was so nice”.
There is only one thing in the world that is worse and that is gritting your teeth and buying it at that exorbitant price anyway.

Unusual Silverina
Hi Alan,
I thought everyone would like to see an unusual piece of Silverina. It is in Shape #8515. This shape is usually made as a lamp base but this is not a lamp but a vase. We have the lamp here in the shop in Blue to white Cluthra with silver mountings.
