Discovery

Recently some guests at my home asked me when we became interested in Carder Steuben. Well it was when we discovered we had a very interesting piece unbeknown to us.
My wife’s grandparents were giving us their sterling flatware as a wedding gift. After they had packed all the flatware neatly in a box they discovered the serving pieces.
Her grandmother took them and gently wrapped them and stuck them in this bowl.
It was years later that we discovered it was a Carder piece; hence the collecting began.

Start with a Shade Vase

Hi Alan, attached is a picture of my 938 Aurene shade vase I bought from Dick Bright in Seattle years ago when he had a shop downstairs in Pioneer Square, about 1971 or so.
