Photographs

A poor photograph of a documented piece is better than no photograph at all. That was one of the messages from Nick Williams, the head photographer at the Corning Museum of Glass, when he spoke at the Symposium last fall. Our Club website depends on submission of photographs from users of the website to expand our database. It’s easy to be intimidated by gorgeous photographs taken by professional photographers and decide that there is no way our own photographs can measure up. But, you don’t have to feel that way. So long as the photograph shows a piece in reasonable enough detail to recognize the shape, color and/or pattern, we can probably use it. Cellphone cameras are sophisticated enough to take acceptable photographs. So, please, if you have a piece in your collection that isn’t represented on the website (whether because of shape, color, pattern or engraving), please take a photograph and send it to our webmaster at info@cardersteubenclub.org. If you have technical questions, please also feel free to ask our webmaster. Just remember, you have to take the photograph yourself and, if it isn’t your piece, you have to have permission to take and use the photograph.
