LIFE ON A STRING

The Carder Steuben Club Symposium is held at the Corning Museum of Glass. Three exhibits will be on display. One will explore glass beads as they symbolize power, enable ornamentation and facilitate trade. This exhibit will explore 3,500 years of human history.

WEBMASTER’S CORNER

This is an interesting bottle. It is shape 5181 and is shown in the Decanters section in Gardner but is called a cologne in the factory records. It is Opal with Amethyst Cintra decoration and has a decorated stopper. It is about 8 inches high. There is also a puff box that matches it. Gardner shows the drawing for the puff without the decoration.

2013 Carder Steuben Club annual Symposium will be held at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY from September 19-21, 2013. The festivities will begin with Frederick Carder’s 150th birthday celebration on the evening of September 18, 2013.
