Just a quick report — I attended the Los Angeles Modernism Show on April 27th, and did not see one stick of Carder-era Steuben glass offered for sale. Surprisingly, the show did not seem to be as well-attended this year, even though the economy is picking up. I guess that’s another way of saying that, in prior years, when the economy was worse, I saw more attendees. Go figure.

For a number of years, the Los Angeles Antiques Show has been held the weekend after the Modernism show, however, not this year. I understand that it will be held in October. Generally I see more art glass, including C.E.S., offered for sale at this show. There used to be some overlap in the dealers, i.e., some would do both shows, since they were on successive weekends.

2013 Carder Steuben Club annual Symposium will be held at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY from September 19-21, 2013. The festivities will begin with Frederick Carder’s 150th birthday celebration on the evening of September 18, 2013.
