Redlands Sherbet
3 inches high
This is HGM Steuben No 22. This is another puzzle. No label with it. It is a 3″ high comport with green bowl and alabaster base.

This isn’t a Steuben shape I recognize. It could easily be a Stevens & Williams piece or possibly a Steuben sherbet. Generally there are no drawings of Steuben stemware pieces other than the goblet which makes identification of things like this even more difficult.

McKee or Tiffin?
This is HGM Steuben No 23. This was not part of the dentist’s donation. This came from someone else. The label on it says it is a Steuben vase. I measured it today and it is 10″ tall. I am very dubious about this being Steuben since I have a vase that is almost identical to it in crystal that has a Fostoria paper label from the late 1910s. This same shape was made by McKee and various other makers in this timeframe.

I have seen this vase attributed to McKee, but Tiffin/US Glass also made similar ones, so I would check those books as well to see if you can eliminate them as a maker. I don’t have the McKee book; however, the shade of pink in this vase of this resembles their pink, which was darkish in tone at this timeframe.
Marshall, thank you so much for your assistance with this project of identification for the Redlands Historical Museum. I have to say, when I saw the photo of the yellow jade sherbet, my first thought was that the shape didn’t look like Steuben, that the color was not murky enough to be theirs, and that it was likely S&W. I guess all this exposure to these concepts through the Carder Steuben Club, plus my own observations of a couple of pieces of Steuben’s yellow jade, indicate that I am learning.
I can’t help but wonder what Steuben items the museum might have missed out on acquiring from Dr. Vineau’s estate, due to a lack of seeking assistance from people
with the proper expertise.

I don’t recognize this as being Steuben. Marshall Ketchum

Persian Blue 2 handled Vase with Bristol Yellow Reeding
Shape No. 6772
5 inches high
Shape 6772 was made in a number of colors and color combinations. It was made both with and without reeding and the optic diamonds. This example is shown in Persian Blue with Bristol Yellow reeding. It is 5 inches high. Persian Blue could easily be mistaken for Celeste Blue. Persian Blue is uv reactive while Celeste Blue is not. Persian Blue is almost alway found with Bristol Yellow reeding and for reasons that are not clear the reeding is very often damaged.
