Color Identification

Rande Bly of Birmingham, Alabama asks JoAnn a question to help identifiy the color of the Redlands Historical Glass Museum compote pictured to the left. To help Rande illulstrate his point he uses as an example, a decanter, shape #2931

#2931 Decanter

I would like to add to the identification of color used in Joann Tortoralo’s shape 3348 Venetian style covered compote. Most all of the time with these pieces the blue used is Flemish Blue. I am thinking the blue used on this piece would simply be described as a “cobalt blue” not Celeste. Here is my Amber Decanter ( a different shape but probably the same color as your piece). It has Flemish Blue Crown Stopper and decorations. Joann is your piece is decorated with cobalt blue like mine is or is it a light colored heavenly sky blue? Look carefully at the knob.

42 Steuben Perfumes

Jo Ann Godawa of Bellevue, Nebraska did a search on the International Perfume Bottle Association website and found great perfumes and great photography. I believe these perfumes are probably Bonnie Salzman’s perfumes.
