Bob Mueller of Minneapolis sends this letter along.
DEAR FELLOW GLASS COLLECTORS,
This letter is being sent to you to see if, as a club ,we can join together as a club to honor MR.ROBERT ROCKWELL for the many things he has done for the club ,and for all of us over the many years we have all known him., to now get together, form a committee, and find a way in which we can get a new building put up for the Rockwell’s ,Steuben Glass Collection
I am a second generation Carder Steuben collector and was privileged to know Mr. Rockwell for over 26 years before we lost this gentleman. Like many of you I was a member of The Friends of Carder in 1992. Then when the Rockwell Museum became a western arts museum, I was at the beginning of the forming of the “Carder Steuben Club” in 2000. Many with whom I have spoken ,indicated they would like very much to have a building honoring the Rockwell Family, and their collection of Carder Steuben Glass to once again to be able to be shown to the public.
As a group working together, I feel we could accomplish this very worthy goal and display pieces still packed away and learn things that are yet to be revealed to us and the public about Mr. Carder and his life.
There are certain to be problems along the way, not the least of which re funding and location..My hope in writing this letter,
is to learn if there is enough interest and commitment to go forward with this idea,
I feel that Bob and his family GAVE too all of us over the years and now it is our turn to show our GREAT APPRECIATION to this family
So please think over this letter I have sent to you,
and when you want , please get a hold of Bob( me) at one of the following ways.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this letter. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU
Many Thanks,
Bob Mueller
