I have received an inquiry from a member of the Club about housing for the upcoming Carder Club Symposium to be held in Corning. He writes:
I just made my reservation at the Radisson for Wed, 9-19, thru Saturday, 9-22. I will be there by myself. Should anyone else attending as a single wish to split the cost, I would be willing to share the room. Some members may not attend because of the room expense. No pets allowed, though.
If anyone is interested, please respond to this e-mail and I’ll put you in touch. Also, if others want to inquire about similar arrangements, please let us know and we’ll try and make a match.
While getting off the subject on packaging and shipping, David Donaldson reported on damage not to his glass, but to a collectible chair. This led to questions about the chair. Here is David Donaldson’s answer to what type of chair.
Hi Alan,
The chair was a Centennial model, so I used a non-antique oriented mover, but one that came highly recommended. Not wanting to mention any Co. name, but they certainly didn’t hold up their part of the world as they claim.
Cheers,
David P. Donaldson, MFA

The chair shipping stirred Helaine Fendelman of NYC to add
Antique furniture does not have to be difficult to ship. Find a good shipper who knows how to handle the property properly.

Then Terry Smith of Signal Hills, California returns to egg crates
That was extra-nice of the upholstery peeps to cut-to-size the egg crate foam pieces, but one can use a pair of shears (scissors) to make pretty decent cuts to almost all of that “type” of foam. Sharp knives also work almost as well.
Of course, IF you happen to know a person that had used (paid-for) an egg crate on their bed during a hospitalization . . . they get to take them home with them . . . and may not want/need them. They might GIVE one to you, or any friend.
