First off, David Chadwick-Brown of San Diego tells us his means of moving his fabulous Carder Steuben glass collection.
Alan,
As always, I thank you for your useful and frequent communications to the members.
For moving purposes, I found that my metal file cabinets and desk drawers were safe and secure containers. Pieces were packed in bubble wrap, and survived the move without complications or loss.
David
Helaine Fendelman of New York City responds to Rande Bly’s chiding on elephant moving comments when she says: Not planning to ship an elephant any time soon
Finally, David Donaldson of Orlando gives his take on packing and moving a glass collection.
Scott,
When I moved to Florida many years ago, the movers got everything except, the art glass, Indian baskets, and any other small fragile items. My car was very crowded, but every piece of the car load arrived without mishap. The movers. on the other hand, managed to damage a Chippendale Centennial chair. I rest my case, and the motor home idea or something similar is right on track from where I sit.
Regards,
David P. Donaldson, MFA
