David Donaldson of Orlando notes a clever packaging idea
Hi Alan,
I just received a Tiffany cabinet vase wrapped in bubble wrap….and much to my amazement, the sender did not use the ever-dreaded clear packing tape to secure the “wrap”. He had used small paper US priority mail stickers which go on the outside of the package. They were holding securely, and I easily tore them with my fingers using virtually no pressure. It is the easiest unwrapping task I have ever encountered. Very clever I’d say.
Regards,
David Donaldson, MFA

Jeanie Quirk of Sudbury, Massachusetts addresses the serious issue on the cost of packaging and how it relates to eBay.
Hi! Oh do I have this problem as well!!!! I am shipping to keep customers happy & not making money as well. Ebay is buyer friendly not seller. I do not know what to do but this morning I put the following on my selling items that are high price:
< PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING >
*****DUE TO EBAY NEW LISTING CHANGES****
INSURANCE CHARGES WILL NOW BE ADDED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE AUCTION. DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN INVOICE FROM ME WHICH WILL INCLUDE ADDED CHARGES FOR INSURANCE AND DELIVERY CONFIRMATION. If payment is made prior to receipt of invoice, I will need additional payment submitted by pay pal to cover insurance costs before it is shipped.
WHEN BIDDING, INSURANCE FEES WILL NOT BE CALCULATED INTO THE COST OF POSTAGE, SO BE AWARE THAT THEY WILL BE ADDED ACCORDING TO USPS INSURANCE PRICES, I DO NOT ADD ADDITIONAL FEES OR ANY OTHER CHARGES.
Note : For shipments within the USA- I use U.S. Priority Mail with delivery confirmation and insurance equal to the final value of the item. For shipments out of the USA I prefer to use Express Mail with insurance (offers tracking). For packages over 12” square in the US, large package excess fees will apply. Packages ship within 1-3 business days of receipt of payment.
I am not sure if this will help but again… not only has the net driven down our market and making money on an item is so difficult NOW shipping is a bad deal for us as well! OH & then the fees. What can we do? Any input? Jeanie Quirk, Sudbury ,Ma
