We were asked about Steuben holiday ornaments and whether there should be a hole in the hangar. Well, John Styler of Prospect Heights, Illinois has done some homework. First, his latest homework:
Alan, I went on the Internet and found round glass pieces called Steuben Christmas Ornaments with drilled holes and red ribbon hangers and they are not as claimed to be, even fake bags & boxes. Some will do anything for a buck.
I must find a hobby!
Next, John’s earlier information:
I would be curious to know what subject / ornaments Terry is refering to. All that I have seen are held at the top by a red ribbon connected to a glass hook, i.e. The introductory retail prices are 1993 Pinecone 6711 $90, 1994 Star 8747 $90, 1995 Lantern 8769 $90, 1996 Pear 8799 $90, 1997 Acorn 8804 $90, 1998 Apple $90, 1999 Gift Box 8830 $95, 2000 Pineapple 8891 $95, 2001 Bell 8922, $95. In my estimation if it has a hole drilled in it is is not an ornament because the above are all 9 of the series.
