Webmaster, Marshall Ketchum, reports on improvements and greater versatility with the Club’s website www.cardersteubenclub.org

Alan

The Carder Steuben Club website has undergone some modifications that should make navigation easier. These are,

1. At the top of each page are arrows that will allow one to proceed to the next higher or next lower shape number. If the next higher or lower number has only one item then that item is shown. If there are two or more items for that number then the search result for that number is shown.

2. One can now make a Form search and see the result showing only photographs or only drawings or both. There were a number of our customers who wanted to see specific colors or color combinations for Forms and the drawings that were intermixed were a distraction.

3. A change has been made that will make it possible to find more types when doing a search for Decorations. This change is invisible on the public side of the website except that it is now possible to more accurately define the Decorations when the data is being entered. This will allow a better and more accurate search for the user.

4. The teaser gallery that shows up along the right edge of many pages now consists of only photographs rather than photos intermixed with drawings.

5. It was decided that the Gazelle Gazette wasn’t really a blog but was a newsletter. References on the website to the Gazette being a blog have been changed.

6. The Membership page has been corrected to provide a place to enter a country in the address. We have members who live in Canada and their address could not be accurately entered on the original form.

7. Finally a new Vetting page has been built. This page is used only by the club’s Vetting Committee so it won’t be seen by the public but it should make the vetting procedure quicker and easier so it should mean less delay in getting some photos posted.
