SYMPOSIUM UPDATE
The Club’s Eleventh Annual Symposium on The Glass of Frederick Carder will be held in Corning, New York on September 15, 16 and 17. Full program materials will be mailed later this month. One of the sessions of the Symposium will be a private tour conducted by Jane Spillman, Curator of American Glass at CMoG, of the Mt. Washington and Pairpoint: American Glass From The Gilded Age To The Roaring Twenties Exhibition currently on view at the Museum. Mt. Washington and its successor, the Pairpoint Corporation, was one of America’s longest-running luxury glass companies (1837-1957), one that rivaled its better known contemporaries, Tiffany and Steuben.
Jane has recently completed the second volume of the history of Mt. Washington and Pairpoint Glass that was started by Kenneth Wilson prior to his death in 2005. Both volumes are available for sale through the Museum web site (www.cmog.org).
