We shared finding a pattern for shape #5000. Was it a vase, a ginger jar or a holder for ashes of a loved one? Following that discussion Kathy Solomon of Pepper Pike, Ohio responded with Extremely cool! I love learning new things about Steuben! Well, Kathy thank you for the comment. We hope the Gazette frequently fulfills this kind of appreciation. At least that is our goal.

The Carder Steuben Club has in the past made a gift of cabinetry to the West Virginia Museum of American Glass. The museum, in turn, houses an exhibit of Carder Glass. The Club hopefully, gives assistance, from time to time, to support efforts like those of the W.V. Museum. In that regard the Club has been in conversation with the Museum to see what aid if any we might provide in the future. Dean Six, the Curator at the Museum has responded telling us that it’s not about substantial economic needs. He points out that the Museum is a teaching institution and has needs for Carder glass, not necessarily perfect, for its Carder cabinet. Dean writes

How about an appeal to get the club to assist us in building a Carder

stemware and plate shelf within our existing (gift from club) Carder case!?!

Could add color, forms and shape?

One shelf = 18 inches x 3 feet

Is this possible to ask for glass not $

Remember we are a TEACHING / History museum not an art museum so damaged

pieces work fine.
