Continuing with examples from last summer’s Carder Steuben exhibit at the University of Southern Indiana we have the label for another piece of glass.
Amber & Celestine Blue Vase with Prunts, Lattice Work Cover & Crown Finial.
Colored Crystal
The amber clear vase is embellished with a lid of decorative lattice work and an ornate finial. The prunts, lattice work and finial were created by a glassworker while the glass was in a molten form. This technique was a true test of the glassworker’s ability and talent.
Technical Note: A “prunt” in relation to glasswork is a blob of hot glass applied to an object and then shaped into the determined decorative form. In this example the prunts are the blue accents on the body of the vase.
Question? Is the lid and the body the same color?
