Tommy Dreiling of Brooklyn asked a question about Royal Purple and light and dark amethyst. Greg Merkel responded in the last Gazette about some of Mr. Carder’s records at Corning Incorporated about the makeup of Royal Purple and the amethyst family. Tommy Dreiling still wants more information as a follow up.

Hi – My confusion about Amethyst/Purple comes from the list of colors in Gardner pages 59 – 61 it lists:

Amethyst,
Amethyst, Dark
Amethyst, Light

Purple, Light
Purple, Pale
Purple, Royal

Is the Gardner list one that we should still be using or has new scholarship rewritten much of the information? – Thanks Tommy
