Gerry Eggert’s reaction to the Chrysler Museum collection is “Great Collection!”

David and Elissa Goldstein reflect on their visits to the Chrysler.

We’ve visited the Chrysler several times although we have not been there in many years. Although they have a fine collection of Carder Steuben, it pales in comparison to their collections of Tiffany and Mount Washington glass.

On one visit we were escorted through the museum by Gary Baker, who was then the curator of glass. We knew Gary from our involvement with the NAGC. Gary was kind enough to open cases and allow us to handle several pieces that were of particular interest.

Museums were more casual and less concerned with security than they are today. We’ve had similar experiences at other museums but I’m afraid that those days are gone.

I would also like to add to Willson’s information on shipping item. At this time of year I ship and receive packages from all over the country . As a precaution, to the length of time a package has been exposed to the elements, I suggest you allow all packages to sit for at least 48 hours before opening to allow it to adjust to the temperature in your home. This will protect it from damage or breakage from temperature changes. This glass is not new and does have stress points from age and exposing to the extreme temperatures changes can be disastrous. As our temperatures here in the North East have been extremely cold, I wait 3 days myself to unpack.
