Continuing on with our discussion of both Gold and Blue colors on an Aurene piece.

For the record, there ARE singular objects of Carder Steuben that are both blue and gold Aurene. The connectors are assembled thus allowing both blue Aurene and gold Aurene to be exhibited on a singular object. See attached candlestick with blue Aurene connector.

I would add an important step as I understand it, that I believe has not been covered. The tin chloride spray adds the iridescent appearance and slight color as we see in VDS but with Gold Aurene it receives a spray from iron chloride first which produces the golden color. The golden color can be achieved with or without the following tin chloride spray. The proper reheating was critical in final appearance. The tin chloride and iron chloride sprays were two separate sprayings.

I think it has to do with the size of the piece in question and the process of the pieces. We have a 12″ 2683 Vase in Blue Aurene that goes from a Gold to Platinum to Blue, Collar to base. I have attached a photo.
