Issue 911
Rande Bly of Birmingham, Alabama submits this.
I would like some help on two simple colors that there seems to be some confusion on. They would be Topaz and Amber. I have always known Topaz to be the rich Golden Brown one and Amber to be the one that carries the slight green tint. I guess my thoughts go way back to the Celeste Blue fan vases with the Topaz foot and the Celeste Blue Tumble ups with the Topaz handles to demonstrate Topaz. The example of Amber for me is the Venetian style pieces with the Flemish Blue pruents and decorations. Some people use Blue Gray and Amber to be the example of Amber. In gemstones Topaz is the rich golden Brown with no tones of green The gemstone Amber often comes with the green tint.
I will include some pictures of Steuben and of the gemstones to help show what I am expressing.

There seems to be confusion on this issue and others express the reverse. I would really appreciate some input from the collectors as to how they understand the difference between these two colors. If anyone has catalog information or factory records with any hints that would perfect. I would greatly value even opinions on the subject. Can you please help?
Thank you
