Thursday, April 22, 2010 We’ve been “off the air” for about a week as a new hardware-software configuration has been installed. Hopefully, this Gazette will work. Well, we’ll see.
To begin with here is a report on a show from Tommy Dreiling of Brooklyn.
On Saturday, April 17th I attend the Westchester Glass Show in Old Greenwich, CT. It’s one of the highlights of my year along with the Baltimore End of summer show. The Westchester is an all glass show of very high quality and has the complete range of glass from Early American to Mid-Century Modern, American and European. I’ve been going for 12 years and this was definitely the smallest in terms of dealers. Many years in the past the Civic Center where the show is held was completely full with not one booth unoccupied, this year there were a lot of empty spaces. There was some very nice Steuben, a pair of colorless silverina and mirror black candlesticks, the first pair I’ve ever seen for sale, a moonlight cut covered urn, a dark blue jade vase and several outstanding Art Deco acid cut backs. There was an exquisite citron consol set in shape 6059, that’s the first time I have ever seen that shape. The show was well attended, there was about 100 people lined up for the 10:00am opening.
