Issue 711
Tommy Dreiling of Brooklyn reflects on John Styler’s request to identify the color of his treasured piece of Carder Steuben Glass.
don’t think the color on the piece can be Light Blue Jade over Flint White. Light Blue Jade is already a cased color of Celeste Blue over Flint White. That would make it Celeste Blue over Flint White over Flint White. The blue looks to be a homogeneous color the me, not plated.

One of the biggest problems I have about trying to determine colors or anything else by a picture is that you cannot see it in real life. A picture is never true. Look at any auction
Catalogue. To make a determination of a type of glass or a color or glass when only looking at a picture should always be qualified. Think what we can do to change colors with simple off the shelf programs.
I have the same shape and pattern. Mine i think can only be alabaster. The blue looks like a light blue jade but I agree with dick stark that thickness of glass and probably the thickness of the underlying glass can effect color. However it is a great piece, and lucky to have held the sterling (i hope i remember the story right)
