The Club’s secretary, Dick Weerts of Osprey, Florida sends along this sage advice
The best way to know what Tyrian or any other type of Carder glass is to invest the money to visit CMoG or better yet, come to the Symposium, meet the people who really care about Carder Steuben, ask, learn, and find out that most will be willing to share their knowledge
and if you are in the area, their collections. Books are great, blogs are great, but the best way to know what a piece of glass is, ” Is to put your hands on it.” (I think a quote I got long ago from D. Goldstein). Dick Weerts
Beth Shaut of Corning sends along these comments on “Tiffany” Blue
My clarification on Tiffany Blue Aurene officially was call Decorated Blue Aurene. Old time dealers called it that because when Carder was told he couldn’t achieve a certain finish or style like another company he would show that he could achieve that finish also sometimes with better results. They also did decorated green Aurene like those in the same shape.
