It will be interesting to watch for other opinions!! But then, opinions are like noses, everybodys got one!!! smile…..

Lon Knickerbocker stands by the signature.
I think the signature is probably good, I think this for several reasons other than the signature itself….

From John Styler of Prospect Heights, Illinois.
The real novice is back. I can’t believe with the thousands of cheap items like shades that were made during his time at Steuben that he sit-down and signed them. Aren’t there are masterpieces of Frederick Carder on the market worth tens of thousands of dollars and no signature or mark of any kind?

Dick Stark adds this comment.
who has seen him sign items in such an obvious place…he sgd a set of a dozen for me at rear.

David Donaldson then questions an earlier Dick Stark comment.
Dick Stark of Bethesda says.
fake… he signed the other end…easy signature to fake. a bit better than his
Hello Folks,

This is incorrect. Many years ago (about 36 ) I had a set of three (3) Gold Aurene shades which were all signed “F. Carder” in the mouth of each shade. The signatures were of this quality and absolutely authentic. I acquired them from the man who took them to Mr. Carder personally. I currently have a Gold Aurene lamp shaft signed “F. Carder” on the drilled base. The quality of the signature is much better than the submitted example or the set of shades I had many years back. I believe we should bear in mind that one’s penmanship usually deteriorates with us getting older.

And, the final comment sent in at this point.
The first thing I would do is check the line drawings , than worry about the sig. This is Steuben shape , Carder did post production signing , it’s like having a Babe Ruth baseball , For me it’s just as good , I collect Steuben glass and not baseballs ! And to have it signed by one of the best , it’s a priceless feeling !!
