Alan, I have an interesting story about forged signatures. The worst forgery that I ever saw was about 35 years ago on a piece of iridescent Czech glass. It was crudely signed as if scratched in with a nail “Lewis C. Tiffany”. One would have thought that the forger would have at least looked up the correct spelling. It was so inexpensive; I almost bought it as a joke.

Another example was a Steuben jade underplate, which was signed with the acid etched Steuben block letter mark 5 or 6 times!

The Corning Museum of Glass is presenting a major summer exhibition, Voices of Contemporary Glass: The Heineman Collection” This exhibit will be on view from May 16 through Jan. 3 of 2010. The exhibition will present one of the largest and finest collections of contemporary studio glass in the United States. Those attending the Carder Steuben Symposium (Oct. 1-3) at the Corning Museum will have a bonus opportunity to witness this stunning glass exhibit.
