Art is the Eye of the Beholder

Issue 474

Carol Kalinich sends along the following:

Dear Alan, I hope you can open this. It is a listing of Art Glass information. Rather interesting, (and new) Harvey Littleton isn’t even mentioned! We had a party last night with some art collectors and, one of our neighbors works in NYC getting big companies and furnishing their buildings w/art. She is very “all around” in the NYC art scene, and says that Art Glass is not that big, compared with painting, sculpture and photography. Possibly due to the medium itself? In the 1980’s I remember it really taking off like a rocket, but even as I looked around Corning there was nothing earth shattering. Folks seem to have gone into craft glass beading more than innovative fine art.
Cordially, Carol Kalinich
