Isn’t it lovely? Yes, a picture is worth a 1,000 words.
That is, a picture of the Carder Exhibit at Building “B” of CMoG.
You may remember that earlier we shared a draft of a rack card being prepared to help visitors to CMoG find their way to the Carder exhibit (2,500+ piece collection of the Rockwell Museum-on long term loan). Okay, a little explanation is in order.
CMoG has two exhibits where selective Carder works are prominent. However, the much more
extensive, somewhat all encompassing collection of Mr. Carder’s Steuben glass on loan from The Rockwell is located across the parking lot, adjacent to The Studio, where students learn the art of glass blowing and design. Visitors to CMoG enjoy the many exhibits in the Museum proper, but seldom realize that across the parking lot (Building “B”) sits this magnificent and overwhelming exhibit of the finest works of Mr. Carder. To assist educating the public to visit the Carder exhibit the Club came up with the idea of a rack card. That is a pick up card, printed on front and back that shows the way to Building “B”. This can be placed in the two galleries where Carder’s works are found in the Museum proper and at the back door to the parking lot. Of course, an idea is one thing. We also contributed $3,000 for the printing. CMoG embraced the idea and designed the brochure. Well, it’s finally gone past the edit stage and is now a finished product. A scan is attached showing front and back sides. I think you’ll find the picture on the front captivating. CMoG’s photography staff of Nick Williams & Andy Fortune have shown their superb talents on this photo.
Some of you have requested copies to distribute at antique shows or in your shops. They should be on the way. Others may want to do the same. If you do, just let me know.
I’m pleased to report that as we’ve asked many of you to sign up or renew membership for our
fiscal year beginning Sept. 1, we’ve had a great response. Our membership is up nicely.
